ABOUT THE PROJECT
The NCC approached Central Precast to replace a series of the canal posts that run along the historical Rideau Canal. The posts typically experience deterioration over time due to Ottawa's extreme winters. The client looked to have new posts fabricated to match the aesthetic of the existing posts. Central Precast created a custom-mix material to match the existing exposed aggregate finish. In addition, Central Precast recommended changing the reinforcing from epoxy to galvanize in order to prolong the life of the posts. Galvanized rebar has a higher resistance to rust which will ensure a longer life for the posts. These canal posts will remain an integral part of the canal experience for decades to come!
