ABOUT THE PROJECT

Enbridge needed four sheds in Pickering with different requirements: a Boiler building, an RTU building, a Regulator building and one for Storage. Central Precast recommended Modular Buildings to ensure durability, impermeability, fire and weather resistance, insulation and thermal inertia. Opting for modular concrete buildings also meant all four buildings could be designed with the same exterior finish, and quickly and easily installed. All four buildings were manufactured in just one week, and featured solid concrete wall and roof panels, interior insulation and a metal finish. In 2018 Central Precast engineered the Boiler and RTU buildings.

The RTU building was shipped fully assembled, and installation of the Boiler building took just four days, including caulking precast joints, installing doors, roof flashings and snow guards, as well as completing the interior insulation and finish. The following year the Storage and Regulator buildings were manufactured and installed, with caulking, doors, roof flashings and interior insulation. Two 8 ft x 8 ft overhead garage doors were also installed on the Storage building. Enbridge now has four, matching exterior buildings which adequately store and protect essential services for the area.
