Queen’s University was looking for an impactful design for the exterior portion of the reconstructed Mitchell Hall building, formerly known as the Innovation and Wellness Centre in Kingston. In order to deliver a sleek, high-quality finish, Central Precast designed and engineered architectural panels, as well as matching fins and base panels, providing a unique 3 dimensional look. During the six-week production phase, rubber liners were used on the full height of the panels to create the look of horizontal reveals spaced at 100mm intervals. After three weeks of installation, the result was an impressive three-storey building of large windows and light grey precast panels in a medium sandblast finish. The Mitchell Hall building will support the university’s efforts to foster innovation and wellness on campus. We are proud to leave a mark on this historical campus.
